Spaghetti Bolognese ala Indonesiana

Spaghetti Bolognese is one of Indonesia’s favorite Pasta menus and they like it spicy with a homy Indonesian taste.  For toppings, it would not be Parmesan cheese but shredded Kraft cheddar cheese block. This is what sells in Indonesia. My family usually order it from Pizza Hut Delivery with a pizza, chicken wings, salad and some sodas to go along. Yes, junk food are sent from heaven… 😀

Different from the Spaghetti con Tonno recipe that uses diced can tomatoes, this recipe requires tomato paste, fresh tomatoes and some bottled chili sauce. Now, to get the taste right I will be recommending 2 brands, ABC bottled chili or the Flying Goose Brand ones. If you are in for a tasty and spicy Indonesian version of Spaghetti Bolognese, this has got to be in your menu today.

The Spaghetti:
Spaghetti for 3 person

How to prepare:
-boil spaghetti with olive oil. water and salt
-when cooked, simmer in cold water until heat reside, set aside

The sauce:
300 gr minced lean beef
1 can of tomato puree
1 medium red tomato
1 paprika
½ medium onion
4 garlic
1 beef consommé
3 tsp – 1 tbs sugar
2 tsp salt
½ tsp white pepper
3 tsp – 1 tbs sambel ABC/Vietnamese flying goose brand chili

How to prepare:
-crush the garlic with the side of your knife, set aside
-cut the onion into long thin slices, set aside
-cut the paprika into little bits, set aside
-slice the tomato very light on the outer edge of the tomato
-boil the tomato until the skin peels of
-cut into small pieces and blender into paste
-saute the garlic and the onion until golden brown
-add the minced beef and cook ¾ done
-add the rest of the ingredients and cook until done
