Classic Dutch Appeltaart

Makes 22 cm cake

Happy Thanksgiving for my bloggers friend celebrating it today. If you are still thinking of what to make for cake, I have a delicious ‘short cut’ recipe today. In a cold day like today, some of you may already have thick snow everywhere, a warm classic Dutch Appeltaart with glorious spices will do the trick.

I didn’t feel like making a big mess of my kitchen and want to stick to making the filling of Appeltaart. So I went don’t to the grocery store to get some pie sheet. Making the filling is as easy as putting everything in a bowl, mix it together and bake it. Voila, in less than 1 hour, the cake is ready for serving.

Frozen pie sheet
2 granny smith apple
1 lemon, take the juice only
1 cup raisins, soak in hot water, drain
1 tbs custard
2 tsp cinnamon powder
4 tbs sugar
2 tbs apricot jam

How to prepare:
-Thaw the pastry sheets at room temperature for about 40 minutes or until they are easy to handle
-spray pan with non sticky spray
-Unfold 1 pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Roll the pastry sheet and fill the pan, set aside
-cut granny smith into small cubes and place in a bowl
-sprinkle lemon juice to the apples to prevent discoloring
-spread some apricot jam on the bottom of the sheet
-add the raisins, custard, cinnamon and sugar to the bowl and mix evenly
-add to the pan and cover with dough sheets
-heat oven for 7 minutes
-place the pie and bake in low-medium heat for 60 minutes
