Potato Perkedel
Makes 8 patties

A popular lunch buffet dish, ‘perkedel kentang’ or potato perkedel. This dish is very often served in Indonesian homes together with another chili dish and plain chicken soup. It taste like the western croquette but without the bread crumbs. A very humble recipe and mostly liked by toddlers.

100 gr minced beef
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper

7 small potatoes
1/4 tsp nutmeg powder
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp chicken consomme powder
1 tsp dried parsley
2 garlic cloves
1 tbs fried shallots
1 egg

1 egg
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper

How to prepare:

-in little oil, saute the minced beef, salt and pepper,set aside
-peel and cut potato into small pieces, fry, and mashed, set aside
-cut garlic into small slices, fry until golden brown, crush, set aside
-break egg in a small bowl, batter, set aside
-in a bowl add the minced beef, mashed potato, nutmeg powder, pepper, salt, chicken consomme, dried parsley, crushed garlic, fried shallots, mix well
-add the egg little by little until mashed potato becomes constant but not soggy
-turn the mashed potatoes into 8 patties
-in a bowl mix remaining egg, new egg, salt and pepper, mix well
-heat deep fry oil
-take a patty, dip into egg mixture and fry until golden brown
-take out and drain oil
