Tahu Tauco

tahu tauco
Serves 2

Another lunch stall recipe, I love this fried tofu with tauco and mini achovies (teri). The tangy sweet chili taste goes well with hot rice and other dishes. The preparations is nothing more that cutting and stir frying.

a bag of fried tofu, cut into triangles
a box of mini anchovies (teri), fried until golden brown
1 cup shrimps
1/2 small onion, slice thinly
2 cloves garlic, slice thinly
1 long red chili, cut into 1 cm slices
1 long green chili, cut into 1 cm slices
1/2 tsp pitted tamarind, dilute in 1/3 tbs warm water
1/2 tbs light soy sauce
2-3 tbs sweet soy sauce
2 bay leaves
2 cm galingale, cut into thin slices
1/2 tbs brown sugar
1 tsp salt

How to prepare:
-deep fry mini anchovies until golden brown
-saute garlic and onion until fragrant
-saute shrimp half done
-add the cut tofu
-add the light soy sauce, sweet soy sauce, mix gently
-add the tamarind water, mix gently
-add the brown sugar and salt, mix gently
-add the bay leaves and galingale, mix gently
