Singapore Black Pepper Crab

There is a very good seafood stall in front of mangga dua Novotel hotel selling the best crabs in town. The restaurant is called “Raja Kepiting”, the king of crab. There were three of us and we would order 5 types of crab for pigging out. After that we would go home feeling full but very happy. Choose male crabs as they have more meat in their claws. On of our favorite menu in black pepper crab. I scroll through the internet and found a delicious recipe from the food.com. Today, we feast of with these delicious tasting crab.

Ingredient:
3 medium crabs
4 cm ginger
1 tsp salt
enough water to cover the crab

oil for deep fry

1 1/2 tbs oil
1 1/2 tbs butter
1 1/2 tbs grated fresh ginger
6 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 1/2 tbs black pepper
1 1/2 tbs pepper
1/4 tsp ground coriander
3 tbs sweet soy sauce
3 tbs oyster sauce
3 tbs brown sugar

1/4 cup chopped fresh coriander for garnishing

How to prepare:
-clean crab
-boil them in water, salt, and ginger for 20 minutes
-drain, set aside
-deep fry them for one minute
-take out and drain

-in a big wok, fry the oil and butter
-add the ginger, garlic and saute until fragrant
-add ll the spices except for the coriander leaves, mix well
-add the crabs, mix well
-place in a big plate
-garnish with coriander leaves

  1. Your black pepper crab looks very tasty. I didn’t know that about male crabs. I must keep it in mind for next time so that I sound like an experienced crab eater. 🙂 I love eating crab but we do not have good crab here in New Zealand. Otherwise I would try and cook it myself. In only really eat crab when I travel to Asia.
